Our view
Usable intelligence.
Draft. The full argument is being written.
The dream of general intelligence is useless here and now. What is useful is narrower: a model reading a manual, a form, a contract or a ticket, and doing one bounded job well.
Open-weight models, hosted on services such as OpenRouter and Baseten, make that work affordable. A workflow that cost a team days can cost cents.
That advantage is temporary. Within a few years it will be table stakes for everyone. The gain goes to the businesses that capture it now.
So we start from the work, not the technology. Where a model earns its place, we build it in. Where it does not, we say so.
